Are you interested in exploring alternative treatments for a disease, for yourself or a loved one? While the traditional Western medical community is extremely gifted in understanding the anatomy of diseases, they are light-years away from understanding how to heal from them without the use of drugs, chemotherapy, and other invasive methods.

We are lucky to live in a time when so much information about alternative treatments is available. Yoga, homeopathy, naturopathy, magnetic therapy, laughter therapy, Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, Ayurveda, and holistic integrative medicine are only some of the possibilities that you can begin to research over the internet.

Once you decide on a course of treatment that suits your particular condition, find a qualified practitioner with whom you have good chemistry. Be sure to ask questions and to not be intimidated. Search around until you find a good fit — after all, the road to healing can be long and intense, and it's important to feel comfortable with your practitioner.

It's a sad truth that cancer is close to home for so many of us. Everyone seems to know someone who has been afflicted with this disease or has perished from it. Despite millions of dollars yearly in research costs, the medical community does not seem to be able to pinpoint the cause for cancer or find a cure. Some "experts" suggest environmental reasons or genetics, but we can broaden our ideas about cancer by looking to the community of alternative medicine.

Every year there are amazing stories about people who have cured themselves from cancer. The most famous one is that of Norman Cousins, whose 1979 book Anatomy of an Illness shows how he used laughter to heal himself from cancer.

Laughter therapy
is one of many safe avenues available for healing from cancer. Before you or a loved one begins chemotherapy or another radical treatment, try turning to an alternative method.

Neuromyletis Optica (NMO), also known as Devic's disease, is an extremely rare affliction of the central nervous system. It usually creates a blurry spot/blindness in one eye, with a feeling of tingling in the opposite side, running along the arm/leg. Quick idenitification of NMO is crucial in order to save the patient from blindness. Usual an immediate application of steroids (cortisol) can reverse the onset of blindness. This writer was diagnosed with this condition a little over a year before this article was published. Thank goodness my case was a

light one, affecting only a short span along my cervical spine, in addition to a few "bright spots" in the brain.

While the medical community has still not found a cure, I feel that I have healed myself completely. They do not know what causes NMO, but I have my own personal beliefs about NMO. Being an autoimmune-related disease, it may have resulted from life-long stress and negative belief patterns.

Throughout the past year, I've consulted with several practitioners. Of the most helpful I've found classical homeopathy and cranio-sacral treatments. Healing emotional wounds through deep introspection, forgiveness, and positive affirmations was key in my healing process. I found it extremely important to add Omega 3 into my diet, particularly from sources of salmon, Nile perch, and sardines. Consulting with a naturopath assisted me in making these dietary changes.

If you know someone with NMO, don't give up hope.
