New Diabetes Drugs: Cost More but Less Total Healthcare Cost

According to new study, diabetes patients who were prescribed newer medications are more likely to take these drugs as instructed than other patients who were prescribed drugs that have been on the market for several decades. Making these patients on newer medications to have a slightly lower risk of hospitalization and so spending between $920 and $1,760 less on annual total healthcare costs.

The study appears in a recent issue of the journal Current medical research and Opinion.
